One evening a refugee family of five had invited Sister Anne Schenck over for dinner. When she arrived, she found a ‘home’ furnished with a milk crate used as a table, and a pot which the dinner was cooked and served in. Sister Anne went on to help thousands out of furniture poverty. Houston Furniture Bank provides essential furniture to families in transition, thanks to the support of our community.

DFB has touched the lives of over 17,000 and will impact an additional 2,000 in this year. Basic furniture gives a family the sense of pride, hope, stability, as well as giving a safe and well-equipped environment. Every year the Furniture Bank keeps large quantities of furniture out of land fills and into homes, while giving thousands of local children a bed to sleep in and families a table around which they can gather for a meal.
